SCALE

WASTELAND exhibition, 2020

The Bay of Fundy holds some of the most powerful tides in the world, capable of moving massive amounts of water, reshaping coastlines, and carrying objects great distances. SCALE places foam and plywood directly in the path of these forces, allowing the currents to drag, batter, and wear away at the materials over time.

The objects displayed here were carried ashore by the tides, while the backing was cut down from a full 4x8 sheet of plywood and painted.

Foam with concrete, on plywood.

I would like to acknowledge the sacred and unceded land on which I am grateful to create and draw inspiration; a place that has been a site of human activity for over 15,000 years. This land is the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik Nation.
