While glyphosate isn't directly toxic to bees like some other pesticides, it can still harm their health in subtle but significant ways. One of the most concerning effects is its impact on bee cognition and navigation. According to a 2015 study (Balbuena), honeybees exposed to sublethal doses of glyphosate exhibited impaired navigation skills, taking longer and less direct routes back to their hives—disrupting foraging patterns and potentially affecting colony cohesion.

Additionally, glyphosate can alter the gut microbiome, weakening bees’ immune systems and making them more susceptible to disease.
