WASTELAND exhibition, 2019

Marine debris has devastating effects on marine life, ecosystems, and coastal communities. In the Bay of Fundy, which borders New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, researchers estimate that around two million pieces of trash litter the seafloor, primarily composed of plastics and discarded fishing gear, according to the Nature Trust of New Brunswick.

This piece, created entirely from marine debris collected during a single walk on Mispec Beach in Saint John, New Brunswick, in February 2019, stands as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of ocean pollution. It highlights the urgent need for action—reducing plastic consumption, improving waste management, and protecting our marine environments for future generations.

hi

THANK YOU; TALK SOON!

I would like to acknowledge the sacred and unceded land on which I am grateful to create and draw inspiration; a place that has been a site of human activity for over 15,000 years. This land is the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik Nation.
