KYEGO is a contemporary artist based in Atlantic Canada whose work responds directly to the social and political tensions of the present.

Since 2019, they have developed projects shaped by close observation of environmental collapse, political instability, and eroding public trust.

Working with found and reclaimed materials, such as discarded plastics, industrial debris, and fragments of surveillance technology, they cut, reassemble, and recontextualize these elements into charged installations and objects. What begins as observation becomes intervention: systems of power, consumption, and control are not only exposed, but physically disrupted and reconfigured.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Much of my work is shaped by the materials themselves, guided by my surroundings and the shifting political and societal landscape. Found objects carry their own histories, and I’m drawn to the tension between what they once were, what they can become, and what they might ultimately represent. The things we discard: fragments of industry, remnants of daily life, gifts left behind by the tide, speak volumes about consumption, waste, and resilience. Pairing material with meaning, I reimagine what’s overlooked, pushing against traditional notions of value and permanence.

Through my work, I want to challenge how we see the world, our relationship with the environment, with society, with what we throw away. Each piece sparks a conversation, pulling focus to the urgent issues that often fade into the background of our daily lives.

SAY

hi

THANK YOU; TALK SOON!

I would like to acknowledge the sacred and unceded land on which I am grateful to create and draw inspiration; a place that has been a site of human activity for over 15,000 years. This land is the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik Nation.
