NEREUS
WASTELAND exhibition, 2020

Born of the ever-shifting tides, Nereus stands as a sentinel of the sea—a guardian forged from the remnants of maritime labor, watching over the waters that shape and consume. Constructed from salvaged buoys and steel, this piece embodies both resilience and surrender to the forces of nature.

In Greek mythology, Nereus was the wise and ancient "Old Man of the Sea," a prophetic being who knew the ocean's depths and guided sailors through its treacherous expanse.

I would like to acknowledge the sacred and unceded land on which I am grateful to create and draw inspiration; a place that has been a site of human activity for over 15,000 years. This land is the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik Nation.
